Senior Engineer, Map Data Sourcing & Compilation

About Woven by Toyota
Woven by Toyota is enabling Toyota’s once-in-a-century transformation into a mobility company. Inspired by a legacy of innovating for the benefit of others, our mission is to challenge the current state of mobility through human-centric innovation — expanding what “mobility” means and how it serves society.

Our work centers on four pillars: AD/ADAS, our autonomous driving and advanced driver assist technologies; Arene, our software development platform for software-defined vehicles; Woven City, a test course for mobility; and Cloud & AI, the digital infrastructure powering our collaborative foundation. Business-critical functions empower these teams to execute, and together, we’re working toward one bold goal: a world with zero accidents and enhanced well-being for all.

TEAM

The Map Solutions team provides AD/ADAS development with reliable access to high-quality map and geospatial data, which feeds machine learning model training, simulation, and system evaluation. We acquire, process, and maintain map data, and we build the tooling that helps teams across the company use a wide range of spatial datasets. You will join our Map Sourcing & Compilation sub-team, which prepares the map data used to develop and evaluate our next-generation driving system as it expands to urban roads.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for a senior engineer with deep expertise in map data: vendor formats, map specifications, and the fine details that determine whether a map is suitable for driving. You will lead our in-house map releases from vendor data to a verified release. You will also help grow the team’s in-house expertise as this work scales. If you enjoy taking end-to-end ownership of a pipeline end to end, and you care as much about how data is checked as how it is built, we would love to hear from you.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead in-house map releases for onboard (in-vehicle) development end to end: specification, conversion, verification, and delivery
• Design and maintain in-house map specifications, along with the format conversion and post-processing pipelines that turn vendor data into them
• Build and run quality verification that ensures data integrity, and define the checks and metrics each release must pass
• Deliver ground-truth maps for offboard (non-vehicle) development, including ML labeling, simulation, and system evaluation
• Manage licenses for data and software used in in-house development, such as data usage agreements, to ensure compliant use
• Manage and evaluate vendor data coverage and quality against our standards
